First Lady Fazna Ahmed has attended the graduation ceremony of Chimes Preschool.
Previously known as Bridge Little Learners Preschool, the Chimes Preschool held its graduation ceremony at the seminar room of State Electric Company STELCO on Wednesday.
The ceremony saw First Lady Fazna conferring awards and scrolls to 27 graduates.
Taking the podium at the ceremony, Fazna shed light on the significance of scrolls to 27 graduates at the ceremony.
In this regard, she urged parents and guardians to ensure their children have a “productive” holiday filled with new experiences.
Stating that school holidays should be utilized to teach preschool graduates new things, the first lady spoke against familiarizing graduates with lessons from grade school textbooks.
As such, she said that this will cause children to repeat the same lessons when they begin primary school, which may cause them to lose interest in their studies.
Further, she went on to highlight the importance of teaching children life skills like toilet training and cleanliness.
First Lady Fazna went on to note the support of the community and state-owned enterprises (SOEs) for preschools.
She was also presented with a drawing of the graduates’ names by the preschool.
The first lady then spent time reading to the children from a storybook.
Bridge Little Learners Preschool was established in 2012 with 233 pupils and was renamed the Chimes Preschool in June 2022.
