The community leaders of Holhudhoo Island in Noonu atoll have showered President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih with gratitude, for the developmental progress seen in the island under the incumbent administration.
The president arrived in Holhudhoo island Saturday morning as part of his ongoing two-day tour of some islands in the north
After arriving in the island, President Solih sat down with the island council and members of the island’s Women’s Development Committee (WDC).
The meeting, held at the Secretariat of the Holhudhoo Island Council, saw councilors briefing the president on their most relevant needs and concerns.
They also inquired about solutions to the challenges facing Meyna School and shed light on the need for sports facilities, coastal protection as well as road construction.
The development of uninhabited island, Holhumeedhoo was also a topic of discussion.
Holhudhoo councilors also shared concerns related to the new healthcare center project, the need for a larger mosque, and police station project.
Shedding light on the administration’s development plans for the island, the president noted that he will address the challenges facing Meyna School and that essential services will be established in Holhumeedhoo with the approval of its land-use plan.
Representatives of the island council were briefed on the commencement of the road construction project, estimated to begin with the completion of water and sewerage system projects.
The president also revealed that funds will be earmarked in the state budget 2023 for coastal protection.
Highlighting that the police station project was progressing according to plan, President Solih promised to seek ways to address the concerns raised at the meeting.
He is accompanied by Ministers of the Cabinet and senior government officials on his visit to the two islands.
His first stop was Funadhoo island in Shaviyani atoll.
