President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has discussed the incumbent administration’s development plans for Thulusdhoo island in Kaafu atoll, with the island councilors.
This was done during a meeting held with the island council on Sunday, where extensive discussions were held on the development vision for the island.
The meeting saw the Thulusdhoo councilors speaking highly of the incumbent administration’s efforts to improve and enhance healthcare services across the Maldives.
The President of the island’s Women’s Development Committee (WDC) also joined the meeting.
Further, the members discussed expediting developmental projects planned for the island as well, going on to speak regarding advancing projects including the relocation of the waste management center, the construction of a new hospital building, powerhouse, polytechnic building, school classrooms and library as well as the development of a water supply network.
Plans for a project revolving around coastal protection were also discussed.
President Solih was also briefed on other needs of the island residents, including the improvement of healthcare services further, developing roads as well as improving banking services.
The meeting also saw the WDC President sharing challenges they face in discharging their duties, including financial constraints and lack of adequate resources and facilities.
Listening to these concerns, President Solih gave his full assurance that the development progress in the island will be closely monitored.
The president also promised to consult with the relevant government stakeholders to seek amicable solutions to the concerns facing Thulusdhoo residents.
The councilors were also briefed on the latest updates on the development projects currently underway and planned for the island.
