Ministry of Foreign Affairs informs that there are nine Maldivians left in Ukraine at the moment.
Updating the media regarding the situation of Maldivians in Ukraine, Russia and Belarus, Communication Director of the Foreign Ministry Miuvan Mohamed stated that the only remaining Maldivians in Ukraine are eight students in Kharkiv and one in Dnipro.
Miuvan informs that one Maldivian family; a Maldivian married to a Ukrainian and their two children have crossed the border into Hungary.
He reassured that the Ministry is working tirelessly with friendly nations to bring the students in Kharkiv to safety. He said that the Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid contacted the students in Ukraine via mobile, and checked up on them.
Speaking about the Maldivian students in Belarus, Miuvan said that the students have been informed on the government's decision to offer financial aid to those that wants to come back. Universities in Belarus are continuing their classes without any interruptions due to the ongoing conflict.
Miuvan said that the information about the government's decision to offer financial aid to those that wants to come back to Maldives have been delivered to the students in Russia as well.
Stating that the situation in Russia is fairly normal for now and that the Universities are conducting classes as normally, Miuvan said that students in Russia are appealing the universities for online classes.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs assures that the Maldivian Embassy in Berlin is in contact with these students and helping them.
