The government is currently working to get all of the Maldivians stranded in different parts of Ukraine, to the border of Hungary.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs revealed that a total of 15 Maldivians are currently traveling to the Hungarian border including 14 students in Ivano and a family member of one of the students.
The authority went on to reveal that eight Maldivians currently remain in Kharkiv, including five students registered with the ministry but couldn’t travel on their planned date as air travel has been halted, as well as a family of three who registered on February 24.
Further, one more Maldivian remains in Dnipro, said the ministry, stressing that being on the eastern side of Ukraine makes it challenging to move the Maldivians in Kharkiv and Dnipro to the border of Hungary which is west of Ukraine.
The authority revealed that the students in both regions currently remain safe.
The ministry added that further details will be provided once the students traveling to the border crosses into Hungary.
Earlier, the ministry announced efforts in cooperation with other friendly nations to explore the options of transferring the remaining Maldivian students stranded in Ukraine, to safety.
On Wednesday, all except five students returned to Maldives from the border city of Ukraine, Kharkiv.
Foreign Ministry is currently in touch with all students and closely monitoring the situation as it unfolds.
