Maldives Covid-19 death toll has risen to 290.
The Health Protection Agency (HPA) identified the deceased as a 92-year-old Maldivian woman.
Doctors at the Gaaf Dhaal Covid Management Facility pronounced her dead at around 3:27am, Thursday.
She is the 14th Covid-19 victim to have been reported this month.
This comes a few days after the last victim was reported; an 81-year-old Maldivian woman who was receiving treatment at ADK Hospital before succumbing to complications of the virus on Sunday evening.
The total number of Covid-19 fatalities reported this year has been pushed to 28; 14 victims were confirmed in January.
The island nation reported the highest number of deaths in a single month since the pandemic began, during May 2021, when a total of 88 deaths were confirmed. June saw 50 Covid-19 fatalities, followed by 10 in July. Five Covid-19 fatalities were confirmed in August and in September. 12 Covid-19 fatalities were reported in October followed by seven in November. December also saw 12 Covid-19 fatalities.
212 Covid-19 victims were reported last year.
