President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has signed a book of condolences opened in memory of the late Mohamed Rasheed, the former Chairman of State Electric Company (STELCO).
President Solih honored the life of the late Rasheed for his dedicated and extensive services in developing the country’s energy sector.
The president also shed light on late Rasheed’s contributions to modernizing power services in Malé.
He was described as a sincere and committed individual and an icon in the engineering sector, who left a legacy of honest and admirable services behind, for generations, said the president.
His message concluded with a prayer for eternal salvation for the late Rasheed’s soul and for strength and resolve to be bestowed upon the mourning family.
Rasheed died of a heart attack while receiving treatment after suffering from a heart attack at ADK Hospital, on 26 December 2021. He was 71 at the time of his passing.
Rasheed was appointed Chairman of the state utilities company during February 2019, before which he had filled the positions of Assistant Managing Director and Chief Executive Office of the company.
He had served in STELCO for over 50 years after joining during 1971.
