The man who was arrested under accusations of stealing cables from a substation of State Electric Company (STELCO) near Majeediyya School, has been remanded.

Arrested in connection with the case was a 32-year-old Maldivian man.

The Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that the suspect was presented before court for his remand hearing.

Upon being presented before the Criminal Court, the suspect was given 15 days in remand.

The case was submitted to the authorities on July 2.

Further investigations are currently underway.

Speaking regarding the matter, STELCO revealed that attempts were made to break one of the cables connected to the transformer of a STELCO substation in the Majeediyya School region, after successfully cutting off one of the cables.
