First Lady of the Maldives, Fazna Ahmed has stressed on the significance of nutrition and making healthy life choices.

She participated in the little maids’ advocacy event at the 9th National Sixers’ Camp 2021 held at Ghaazee School.

The Chief Guide and Maldivian First Lady spoke to length regarding the theme of this year’s event and stressed that a majority of health issues facing women and adolescent girls are caused by a lack of nutrition.

With this being said, Fazna noted that a variety of healthy produce could be sourced locally.

The first lady went on to express confidence that the Girl Powered Nutrition (GPN) badge and advocacy campaign will boost knowledge of nutrition and help girls become more aware and health-conscious.

The three-day camp will conclude on Tuesday and is being held under the theme “Girl Powered Nutrition”.

A global programme run by the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS), GPN aims to promote girl-led change through education on the importance of a balanced and healthy lifestyle.

An activity designed to develop abilities and instill the attributes of teamwork, the “Sixers Challenge” was also carried out on Monday.

More than 300 sixers from 42 schools spanning 13 atolls across the archipelago nation participated in the year-end camp.
