Vice President Faisal Naseem has returned to the Maldives capital, after concluding his brief visit to the southern city of Fuvahmulah.
The vice president departed on the two-day visit on Sunday and was accompanied by senior officials from the government and Cabinet Ministers.
The vice president attended the signing ceremony for the coastal protection project during the brief visit.
Further, he also attended the “ground-breaking” ceremony for a mosque development project, in the harbor area of the city.
Contracted to M.T. Højgaard Maldives Pvt. Ltd, the coastal protection project is worth MVR 300 million and the scope of the project includes the construction of 2,650 meters of coastline protection wall.
Funded by the government, the MVR 11.9 million-worth project is expected to be completed within a year.
The mosque will feature modern architecture and design and can accommodate up to 500 worshipers.
