Vice President Faisal Naseem and Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina have discussed agreement exchanges between Maldives and Bangladesh.
As part of his three-day official visit to the country, the Maldivian vice president paid a courtesy call on the Bangladeshi PM, at her residence, Gonobhaban.
During the call, the leaders discussed agreement exchanges as well as other ways through which the bilateral relations and the close friendship between Maldives and Bangladesh can be improved.
Further, the leaders expressed joy over the close diplomatic relations both countries have enjoyed for several decades, with VP Naseem extending felicitations to PM Hasina in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of independence and the centennial birth anniversary of the founding leader of Bangladesh, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
As part of the trip, VP Naseem also toured the National Institute of Advanced Nursing Education & Research (NIANER), where he stated that Maldives and Bangladesh share common values and interests.
Speaking further, the Maldivian vice president shed light on the priority given to youth development and decentralized development of wellness and healthcare services by the administration of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
He also met with the Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Zahid Maleque, where the pair expressed interest to collaborate further to develop the healthcare sector including technical and vocational training as well as higher education opportunities to specialize in different areas of healthcare.
Discussions also touched down on collaboration for bilateral healthcare development including work exchanges for skills development.
Further, they talked about teams of specialized doctors and healthcare experts from Bangladesh visiting Maldives as well as making arrangements to bring Maldivian healthcare employees to Bangladesh as temporary trainees to aid them improve their skills and expand their capacity.
The meeting saw the health minister of Bangladesh praising the government of Maldives for their successful Covid-19 inoculation drive.
VP Naseem was accompanied by a delegation of Cabinet Ministers and high-level officials from the government and the President’s Office.
