Councilors from Nellaidhoo island in Haa Dhaal atoll have shared vital socio-economic needs of the island community, with Vice President Faisal Naseem.
As part of his two-day visit to Thiladhunmathi atoll, the vice president held a meeting with the island council and Women’s Development Committee (WDC) where they expressed sincere gratitude for the multiple initiative undertaken by the government for the development of the island.
Nellaidhoo councilors revealed the importance of being provided an adequate solution for land scarcity on the island.
Speaking at the meeting, Nellaidhoo Health Centre and School members shed light on the difficulties faced due to lack of space as well as the need for human resources as well as an upgrade to the health services available in the island.
Lack of space was also among the issues faced by the WDC members.
Listening to these concerns, the vice president stated that the government will take the required actions to facilitate the decentralization of institutions and stated that the main aim of holding these meetings, is to identify the needs of the people and facilitate upgraded services.
He also updated the member with the latest information on the developmental projects carried out by the government, including the tertiary hospital development project in Kulhudhuffushi City and the high-speed ferry network project, which would benefit all communities in the region.
