Councilors of Hoarafushi island in Haa Alif atoll have stressed the urgency of inaugurating the projects included in the budget, as soon as possible.

As part of his ongoing two-day tour of Thiladhunmathi atoll, Vice President Faisal Naseem met with members of the Hoarafushi Council, the island’s Women's Development Committee as well as senior representatives of institutions on Friday.

During the meeting the vice president highlighted that the government highly prioritizes working towards paving way for full decentralization.

Representatives of institutions and councilors shared concerns and development needs of the island community and stressed on the importance to expedite the construction of the hospital on the island.

Further speaking, senior representatives from Hoarafushi Health Centre shed light on the issues they currently face in providing their services and the issues that need to be resolved immediately.

The meeting was also joined by senior members of the Haa Alif Atoll School who briefed the vice president on the school's infrastructure and human resource requirements.

Listening to these concerns, the vice president stated that the government will take the required actions to facilitate the decentralization of institutions and stated that the main aim of holding these meetings, is to identify the needs of the people and facilitate upgraded services.

VP Naseem affirmed that the requests made by the councilors and senior representatives of institutions will be forwards for consultations with relevant authorities.
