Vice President Faisal Naseem has departed on a tour of some islands in Haa Alif and Haa Dhaal atolls.
The vice president departed of his two-day Thiladhunmathi visit on Friday morning.
He will conclude his visit and return to Malé City on Saturday and is accompanied by a delegation of government officials.
His first stop is Hoarafushi island in Haa Alif atoll, where he inaugurated the road development project and attend an anniversary celebration for the Hoarafushi Airport.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony for the road development project, the vice president reaffirmed that the Solih administration would not discriminate in carrying out development projects based on the size and population of the island.
As such, even in the face of the Covid-19 crisis, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih had prioritized the fulfilment of his promises in a capable manner. This resulted in the government achieving extreme success in the past three years, with more projects completed than ever before.
The vice president said that the combined initiatives carried out by the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC), Fenaka Corporation Limited (Fenaka), and development projects in the educational and health sectors alone are testament to this.
The road development project will be carried out by MTCC, including the construction of 11 asphalt paved roads.
VP Naseem will be touring the institutions in the island and conducting meetings with key stakeholders on the island.
Saturday will see VP Naseem visiting three islands; Nellaidhoo, Vaikaradhoo and Kudhulhuffushi City in Haa Dhaal atoll. In each island, he is scheduled to hold meetings with key stakeholders.
During the visit to Nellaidhoo, the vice president will tour the health center and school.
In Vaikaradhoo the vice president will inaugurate the island's outdoor gym.
Further, he will officially inaugurate "Ufanveni" at the Kulhudhuhfushi Regional Hospital as well.
