Maldives Covid-19 death toll has been pushed to 248.

The Health Protection Agency (HPA) revealed that the victim succumbed to complications of the virus at around 2:01am early Wednesday.

The latest coronavirus victim has been identified as a 75-year-old Maldivian woman who was receiving treatment at the Hulhumalé Medical Facility.

This comes less than a week after the last fatality was reported, on November 11. He was an 81-year-old local who was declared dead by doctors at Addu Covid Management Facility.

This has pushed the number of Covid-19 fatalities reported so far in November to five.

Of the 248 deaths linked to coronavirus reported in the Maldives so far, 198 have been reported so far this year.

The island nation reported the highest number of deaths in a single month since the pandemic began, during May 2021, when a total of 88 deaths were confirmed. 50 deaths were confirmed in June while 10 deaths were reported in July. In August, five Covid-19 patients succumbed to the virus, September also saw five Covid-19 fatalities. 12 Covid-19 fatalities were reported in October.

Maldives reported its first Covid-19 fatality in April 2020.
