The administration of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih will not neglect a task considered valuable and significant to the people of Maldives, no matter how small it may be, says Vice President Faisal Naseem.
Taking the podium at the ceremony to launch the project to close up the navigational channels dug across the Fuvahmulah City reef, VP Naseem highlighted that the Solih administration is a “people’s” government and that the president is eager to listen to the thoughts and concerns of the people.
As the population of Maldives spans over the archipelago islands from north to south, VP Naseem revealed that the government believes the people should have access to basic services nationwide.
With this being said, the vice president revealed that the government is currently working relentlessly to expand the scope of services offered to the people in all fairness, and impartially as the decentralization system is reinforced.
Currently, educational infrastructure development projects, the construction of water and sewerage systems, road development projects and urban development projects are underway nationwide.
The physical work to close up the channels dug across the island reef previously for navigational purposes, was mobilized by VP Naseem during the ceremony.
The project stemmed through a request to the president, made by the Fuvahmulah residents. The request was approved swiftly as a tragic incident in the waterways back in January had resulted in a fatality. During the ceremony, thirty seconds of silence were observed in memory of the lives lost in tragic sea incidents in the area.
The project was contracted to Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) as a CSR initiative.
VP Naseem toured the road construction sites in the city, his home land, and also inspected the progress of the project.
Accompanied by a high-level delegation of government officials, the vice president will conclude his four-day tour of the south and return to the capital on Friday.
