Maldives extends negative PCR test validity time for inbound travelers
The government in early July eased a number of safety measures against Covid-19
PCR testing is not required for toddlers below one year
Travelers were earlier required to present negative PCR test results taken over 72 hours

Travelers arriving in the Maldives are now required to present negative PCR test certerfication taken 96 hours prior to departure.

In a travel advisory early Tuesday, the Maldives Immigration revealed that all inbound travelers arriving through international ports into the Maldives are required to present a negative PCR certification that is valid from samples collected 96 hours prior.

This is valid for those who have completed their Covid-19 vaccination doses, as well as those who have not.

However, toddlers below the age of one are exempt from this rule.

While the Maldives Immigration has issued this travel advisory, travelers were previously required to present negative PCR certification valid 72 hours prior to arrival.

The government responded to a devastating spike in Covid-19 cases observed in late April, by implementing a number of restrictions and safety measures. Since then, cases have been gradually declining and authorities have eased a number of these measures.

As such, locals and work permits holders are currently allowed entry into the country without the need to quarantine, if they have been fully vaccinated against the coronavirus pandemic.

Further, those who have recovered from the virus and are yet to observe 60 days since receiving positive test results and those who have observed 14 days since receiving the second jab of Covid-19 vaccination may now travel to the Maldives without the need to observe quarantine.
