624 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine were administered on Wednesday.
According to the latest information publicized by Health Protection Agency, (HPA), 104 first doses, and 520 second doses were administered.
From these numbers, 98 first doses were administered to those residing in atolls, while six were administered to residents of the Greater Malé area. Furthermore, only 13 persons in Male' received the second dose on Wednesday while 507 atoll residents were administered the second shot.
This recent development pushes the number of fully vaccinated individuals to 260,281. The number of persons administered a first dose, nationwide, sits at 320,991.
The vaccinations currently being administered in the Maldives are, Covishield, Sinopharm, and Pfizer. Covishield was briefly halted due to insufficient supply and authorities resumed administration on the July 4. Covishield’s second dose is now being administered under an appointment basis, with HPA even encouraging those who got the first dose in May, to make an appointment.
The Health Emergency Operations Centre (HEOC) earlier stated that 50 percent of the country's adult population is now fully vaccinated against Covid-19.
The incumbent administration of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih launched the “Covid-19 Dhifaau” inoculation drive on February 1.
