Addu Emergency Operations Center has revealed that two districts of the southernmost city currently have active Covid-19 cases.
Latest statistics by the Addu Emergency Operations Center revealed that between 6pm Wednesday and 6pm Thursday, 183 samples had been tested for coronavirus across the city. Out of them, four samples returned positive for the coronavirus infection.
A total of 450 Covid-19 infections have been discovered so far in the southernmost city, out of which 317 patients have since observed full recoveries. Healthcare authorities have so far collected 9,110 samples for Covid-19 testing in Addu City.
The Addu Emergency Operations Center has urged city residents to test for Covid-19 if they develop Covid-19 symptoms, without delay.
Of the over 400 Covid-19 cases discovered in Addu City, 127 were from Hithadhoo and four from Maradhoo.
The city currently has 131 active Covid-19 cases and one Covid-19 patient hospitalized for treatment.
Two Covid-19 fatalities have been reported from Addu City so far.
Healthcare authorities have begun easing restrictions in the southernmost city as the Covid-19 outbreak is being controlled successfully, with the Director General of Public Health Maimoona Aboobakuru addressing a letter to the Addu City Council, revoking the curfew across all districts of Addu except for Hithadhoo district, effective Thursday.
The Covid-19 outbreak worsened across Hithadhoo after a massive coronavirus cluster was discovered among the expatriate community in the district.
