Maldives's first death to Covid-19 was reported in April 2020

Maldives has reported an additional death to Covid-19.

The Health Protection Agency (HPA) said that a 68-year-old Maldivian woman being treated at the Hulhumale’ Medical Facility (HMF) passed away early Friday morning.

With this, the country has seen a total of 202 deaths from Covid-19 since the first one was reported in April 2020, with 64,214 recoveries recorded. There are currently 6,930 active cases in the island with 67 patients receiving treatment at medical facilities.

41 deaths have been recorded thus far in June.

As per the statistics released by HPA, a total of 111 deaths from Covid-19 were confirmed between April 28 and June 5 with a record number of deaths seen in May; 88 deaths.

The island nation has reported a total of 71,356 Covid-19 cases since the first one was detected in March 2020.

The latest government daily figures also show that a total of 314,755 people had a first dose of a coronavirus vaccine while 181,778 had their second dose by Saturday.
