A fire broke out on vessels docked at the harbour on the west side of capital Male’ City.

Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) said the fire was reported around 6:13am on Thursday, adding that it was extinguished by 6:45am.

An expatriate sustained injuries in the fire and was taken Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) for treatment.

MNDF said that five speedboats were damaged in the incident, including one beyond use.

The case is being investigated by the Maldives Police Service.
