A team of the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) officers worked to re-float a boat that ran aground a patch of reef, early Thursday.

MNDF revealed that “Nasfaru” was enroute capital Malé City from Van’gaaru in Shaviyani atoll, when it ran aground a patch of reef near Loafaru island in Noonu atoll.

Ten people were onboard at the time of the incident.

MNDF received reports of the boat running aground near Loafaru island, in the late hours of Wednesday.

Authorities have revealed that the boat was 75 feet long.

A squadron of the MNDF Northern Area Command and Coast Guard First Squadron assisted in efforts to re-float the boat.
