The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has begun military trainings in the capital, Greater Malé Region.

MNDF revealed that their military trainings commenced in the Malé region on October 5 and will proceed through October 18.

MNDF stated that these exercise drills are being conducted in Hulhumalé Phase III, Farukolhufushi, Velana International Airport (VIA), and in front of the Hulhumalé Main Bus Station (Ferry Terminal).

Revealing that MNDF officers are operating with weapons during these trainings, MNDF said no live ammunition or any dangerous explosives are being used during these exercises.

Although no further details about these exercises have been disclosed, MNDF occasionally conducts special operations in the capital region as well as across outlying atolls.
