Raajje Television has signed an agreement with sponsors of the highly anticipated UEFA EURO 2020.
RaajjeTV is currently gearing up for the “Milo Euro Foari 2021” after gaining the exclusive local rights to broadcast the biggest football carnival.
The agreements signed on Thursday include one with the title sponsor, Nestlé’s Milo.
The agreements were signed by Business Development Manager of Maldives Sales Dishan Wijayawardena on behalf of Milo, as well as the Head of Corporate Services Aminath Reesha, on behalf of RaajjeTV.
Further, Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) and Pizza Buona have signed on as co-sponsors of the event.
Local telecommunications giant Dhiraagu is to be the digital partner of “Milo Euro Foari 2021”, whereas the country’s national bank, Bank of Maldives (BML) will be the official banking partner of the highly anticipated event.
Other sponsors of the Euro experience include official interior partner Proxy and Cibo as the official catering partner. The event is being brought in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment.
RaajjeTV has scheduled a special coverage with all 51 matches to air between 11 June and 11 July 2021.
With 24 teams contesting in Euro 2020— which had been postponed to 2021 last year due to prevailing difficulties of the global Covid-19 pandemic— viewers will be given the full Euro experience. RaajjeTV, will be conducting special pre-game, half-time and post-game coverage for matches of Euro 2020 with the best football analysts in the country.
Some of them include Super United Sports (SUS) coach Mohamed Shiyaz, United Victory (UV) coach Ihusan Abdul Ghanee, celebrated goalie Ismail Zariyand, coach for TC Sports Club Mohamed Nizam, skilled journalist and sports analyst, Imad Latheef and Sports Corporation’s Managing Director who is also a renowned goalie in the Maldives, Mauroof Ahmed.
Agreements were signed with the analysts on Wednesday, with RaajjeTV’s Deputy CEO Naazmee Saeed signing on behalf of the station.
The station’s bold decision to purchase exclusive local broadcasting rights for the event comes at a time the country’s economy has taken a blow due to the impacts of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
In a statement released earlier, RaajjeTV revealed that the management’s committed to secure exclusive rights for Euro 2020 as it reflects the station's mission to amplify voices of and support the sporting community in the Maldives.
RaajjeTV will be working on a round-the-clock basis to provide viewers with a well-rounded coverage for Europe’s biggest championship, as citizens nationwide are cooped up indoors due to the health and safety precautions and restrictions enforced in the face of Covid-19.
The local broadcaster will be airing in-depth analysis of matches alongside a well-organized coverage so that citizens will be able to enjoy the full Euro experience from home.
RaajjeTV has previous experience in broadcasting the tournament, having aired the Euro 2016 held in France. The coverage was a bit hit among the audience.
Euro 2020 will kick-off in 2021, at a time it had been delayed by a year due to risks associated with the pandemic. Despite this delay, the tournament will still be titled "Euro 2020" as teams prepare to battle it out for the coveted Euro trophy after half a decade.
The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) have decided that this year's championship for the continent will be played across 11 different European countries, in 11 distinct cities.
The kick-off match for Euro 2020 will be held in Rome, Italy at the Olympic Stadium, with semi-finals and finals scheduled to be held at the Wembley Stadium in London, United Kingdom.
