Police arrest 43-yo accused of grooming, engaging in sexual activity with a minor

A man accused of grooming and sexually assaulting a minor has been arrested in Kulhudhuffushi City.
Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that the man, 43, was arrested on Sunday night following reports of him grooming and leading a child to a guesthouse in the northern city to engage in sexual activities.
Further investigations are being carried out in connection to the case.
The man was handed over to the authorities by infuriated city residents, who are seen gathered at the scene of his arrest, in a video circulating on social media.
Reports indicate that the man is an officer of the Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF), however, MNDF is yet to comment on the matter
