Under its Community Fund initiative, Bank of Maldives has opened a nature park in Hoadedhdhoo island of Gaaf Dhaal atoll.
Announcing the opening of the ‘Dhigemahkoda Nature Park’ BML expressed pride in supporting the island strengthen community spirit as well as protect the area.
Located in the northeast wetlands of Hoadedhdhoo, the development project was an initiative of ‘Hoadedhdhoo Sports’ with the purpose of paving way for visitors to experience the natural beauty of the wetlands as well as increase awareness on the significance of environment protection for future generations.
The project saw the installation of a walkway measuring 85 feet, benches, dustbins and a barbeque area, the building of a viewing platform as well as an area to cut fish and manage waste.
The bid to develop the park was won by Mahdhoon Adam, who revealed that their main focus throughout the project was to carry out the work in a way that prevents damage to the area’s natural beauty. He stated that the area will not only serve the island community but also the community of Madaveli island, which is connected to the island by a causeway.
Adam expressed gratitude to the island community for the support extended in carrying out the project successfully.
