SUS beat TC Sports Club 1-0 at the national stadium on Tuesday night.
Both teams seemed evenly matched during the first half of the game, with TC's foreign forward Malcolm having gotten two chances at goal, both blocked by SUS's goalkeaper Mirzokhid. SUS forward Ajnane Mohamed also had a shot on goal, which was ultimately blocked by TC goalkeeper Azad.
The second half of the games saw both teams stick to an attacking strategy, with both teams creating exciting opportunities for a goal as the match progressed.
The only goal in this match was scored by SUS in the 76th minute. SUS's goal was secured by forward Ahmed Aiham, who had joined play as a substitute, and was followed by a failed opportunity to even out the score when a shot by TC's Azzam was defended spectacularly at the goal line by SUS defender Ahmed Shafiu.
At the end of the match, TC had been down one player as TC's Ali Shamin had been issued a red card for a foul on SUS's forward Aiham during extra time.
Speaking to the press after the match, coach for Super United Sports Mohamed Shiyaz (Mohan) stated that he was very happy with the performance of his team, but expressed disappointment that they had not secured an easier win by making better use of opportunities created during the first half. However, Mohan expressed satisfaction that the team was able to meet their goal and secure three points and a win from the match.
Coach for TC Sports Club Mohamed Nizam (Nizambe) stated that he was happy with how his team had performed at their first game after such a long hiatus, and noted that their inability to turn opportunities to score into successful goals had been the biggest issue faced by TC in the game.
With their win over TC, SUS is now on the 6th place in the DDPL point table with 11 points earned from 10 matches played. TC is now in 7th place, with 9 points secured from 10 matches.
