Valencia pushes past Victory to climb league table
Victory will look to recover when they face Maziya Sports and Recreation on November 22, while Valencia will aim to extend their winning form against Club Eagles on November 23.

Club Valencia has grabbed a crucial three points on Friday evening with a hard-fought 1–0 win over Victory Sports Club in the ongoing Dhiraagu Dhivehi Premier League (DDPL), propelling them up to sixth place in the league table.

The match at Galolhu Stadium saw a cagey first half dominated by Victory, who pressed high and controlled much of the possession. However, Valencia’s Moldovan goalkeeper, Viorel Boian, stood firm between the posts, pulling off several sharp saves to keep his side level heading into the break.

Both teams continued to push forward in the second half, creating a flurry of opportunities as the tempo intensified. Despite Victory’s relentless attacking efforts, it was Valencia who found the breakthrough in the 79th minute. Captain Ethan Ibrahim Zaki swung in a precise free kick from the flank, and midfielder Ahmed Athwaan Ali rose highest to head the ball past Victory’s Syrian goalkeeper Mahmood Al Yousuf, nestling it perfectly into the corner of the net.

The result marks Victory’s second defeat under Slovak coach Georgely Geri. After a losing start against New Radiant Sports Club, they bounced back with wins over TC Sports Club and United Victory, but Friday’s setback halts that momentum.

Victory will look to recover when they face Maziya Sports and Recreation on November 22, while Valencia will aim to extend their winning form against Club Eagles on November 23.
