Emirates to increase flight frequency to Maldives ahead of Easter holidays

The changes will be in effect until 18 April, and were implemented ahead of the Easter break

Flight frequency will increase to 28 weekly flights from March 28 onwards

Travelers must also complete the online immigration and health self-declaration form 24 hours prior to travel

Emirates has announced the airline’s decision to boost the frequency of flights operating to Maldives.

The airline made the reveal via Twitter, adding that flight frequency will increase to 28 weekly flights from March 28 onwards.

The changes will be in effect until 18 April, and were implemented ahead of the Easter break.

Emirates expects the boosted services to meet market demand to the popular holiday destination and revealed that it will also offer consumers “greater flexibility”, choice and connectivity while making bookings for the Easter holiday.

Currently, the airline offers 24 weekly flights to the Maldives via a Boeing 777-300ER aircraft.

Customers may confirm their bookings through their official website, as well as sales offices and travel agents.

In accordance with the protocols being followed due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, all travelers to the Maldives are required to present a negative Covid-19 PCR test certification conducted 96 hours prior to departure. Maldivians are exempt from this procedure.

Travelers must also complete the online immigration and health self-declaration form 24 hours prior to travel.

Emirates resumed flight operations to the island nation on 16 July 2020, a day after the country reopened borders for international travel after nearly four months since the government halted issuing on-arrival visas, on 27 March 2020.

Regulations mandate visitors to present a negative Covid-19 PCR test to the immigration upon arrival. The industry came to a complete standstill once borders were closed down and the country saw a major reduction in tourist arrivals despite having aimed to break the tourist arrivals record of 2019.
