Maldives Covid-19 death toll has risen to 50.

The Health Protection Agency (HPA) reported that deceased is a 77-year-old Maldivian man.

The man was rushed to the emergency room of Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) at 9:50am on Thursday, in an unresponsive state.

The public health authority cited doctors having declared him dead at around 10:14am.

The 50th death from Covid-19 comes after a fortnight since the 49th death was reported.

A 60-year-old local man admitted at the 11th floor of Dharumavantha Hospital succumbed to complications early January 7.

According to the public health authority, Maldives Covid-19 tally currently sits at 14,712, with 13,638 patients having recovered, thus far.
