The Transport Authority has brought changes to the times business goods and construction materials can be transported within Male' and its suburban district Hulhumale', with implementation to begin starting Sunday.
The changes brought to the times business goods and construction materials can be transported in Male' and Hulhumale' are as follows;
- Pick-ups lighter than 350kg are can operate 24 hours in Male' City and carry all types of goods
- Between 9am and 1130am, and 0130pm and 6am, all classes of vehicles can carry all types of goods with the exemption of water and gas
- Vehicles heavier than 350kg are not allowed to transport any goods between 1130am and 0130pm
- Vehicles of all classes can transport water and gas between 6pm and 6am
In addition to this, changes brought to regulations for transporting goods across the Sinamale' Bridge are as follows;
- Vehicles lighter than two tonnes carrying goods to Hulhumale' can operate 24 hours over Sinamale' Bridge and must only use the Boduthakurufaanu Magu route during transport
- Vehicles heavier than two tonnes can only carry goods to Hulhumale via the Sinamale' Bridge between 6pm and 6am
Lastly, the regulations for carrying construction materials in bulk have also been altered to reflect the following changes;
- Vehicles transporting wood, metal, stones, construction aggregate, glass and cement in bulk in Male' and Hulhumale' can only do so between 6pm and 6am
The Transport Authority said that while these changes are to be implemented starting Sunday, they will also be imposing a ban on vehicles carrying goods and construction materials near schools during school opening and closing times.
