Club Eagles had their first win of the season against United Victory (UV) on Saturday, while TC Sports Club managed to get away with a draw against table-topper Club Valenica.
Eagles won the first match of the fifth week with a 3-2 win against UV.
Club Eagles had multiple chances to take the lead during the very start of the game, and was able to do so at the 23rd minute with a goal by their Egyptian midfielder Osama Anbar.
While the first half ended 1-nil, Eagles widened the lead seven minutes after the start of the second half. Hassan Raaif Ahmed (Hanna) scored the goal following a clean pass by Osama.
Eagles earned a three-point lead at the 76th minute, with Hanna’s second goal of the match.
UV managed to lessen the goal gap during additional time, with goals by Ahmed Bassam Mohamed Naeem (Bakku) and Ismail Easa (Messi).
Speaking after the match, Eagles’ coach Mohamed Shiyaz (Mohan) said that he was satisfied with the result but stressed that they could have done better, after noting the two goals by UV at the end of the game.
UV’s Mohamed Adam said that a number of his players are suffering various injuries, adding that this was an issue before and during the match. However, he said he was content with the players performance especially towards the end.
With their first win of the season, Club Eagles has moved to seventh position with four points while UV dropped to the bottom having earned just two points in five games.
TC Sports Club VS Club Valencia
TC Sports Club’s match with table-toppers, Club Valencia, ended 1-1.
Both teams failed to score during the first half of the match, despite various opportunities.
Valencia increased its attacks towards the TC goal after coming back for the second half, finally succeeding at the 60th minute. Captain Ali Ashfaq (Dhagandey) scored the goal following a pass by Ali Fasir (Sentey).
However, the club was only able to hold on to the lead for about 15 minutes, as TC equalized the game with a successful penalty kick by captain Mohamed Azzam at the 77th minute. This was the first goal against Valencia this season.
Valencia’s coach Mohamed Athif said that their aim was three points but that he was satisfied with having earned a point as well, as well as with the players’ performance.
TC’s Mohamed Shazly (Shaz) said that he was happy to have earned a point against Valencia, which he described as the strongest team of the season.
Despite the draw, Valencia remains on top of the league table with 11 points while TC is in fifth spot with six points.
