Ministry of Education has sent condolences to the family of 17-year-old Ahmed Fauzan from Fuvahmulah City, the local hero who drowned on Saturday after assisting two girls back to safety.
In a message, the ministry described Fauzan as a well-behaved and friendly child as well as a team player.
The ministry extended condolences to Fauzan’s family and friends, from all the management and staff there.
According to local media outlets, Fauzan jumped into the ocean after seeing two girls drifting out to sea. He is to have assisted both to safety, but had not had the energy to pull himself up. He was reported missing at around 4:45pm.
The 17-year-old’s body was found underwater at around 5:50pm on Saturday, and was pronounced dead about an hour later.
His funeral prayers were held after Dhuhr on Sunday.
