Maldives Police Service (MPS) have requested that the public remove illegally parked vehicles in no-parking zones near schools.
While schools are set to start on 10 January, the Police have announced a deadline until 6pm on the day before to remove illegally parked vehicles from no-parking zones near schools.
Schools were closed in 2020 as a response to the Covid-19 pandemic, but are set to re-open with strict new Covid-19 health and safety regulations in place. Sessions have also been divided to limit exposure and prevent transmission, and authorities have been working to make it convenient for students to enter and exit school grounds at the allocated times.
According to new-normal changes to the teaching system, Pre-schoolers will be taught classes for two hours a day, five days a week, where one hour of every session will be dedicated to familiarizing children with concepts like social distancing and the health and safety precautions in place under the new regulations.
Primary, Secondary and Higher Secondary students will be attending schools in three sessions with teaching to continue for five hours a day for five days of the week.
While students between grades eight and 12 had been allowed to return to school for exam preparation under strict supervision last year, most school-age children have continued learning through online classes and tele sessions since March 2020.
