The total number of coronavirus infections in the Maldives has risen to 13,930 with the 37 new Covid-19 cases reported on Tuesday.
Nightly statistics publicized by the Health Protection Agency (HPA) reveal that 20 of the new cases were confirmed in the Greater Malé Region, whereas 15 infections were discovered from operational resorts.
Two cases from residential islands and one from a liveaboard vessel were also detected by sundown on Tuesday.
The new infections were confirmed out of the 3,088 samples tested between 6pm Monday and 6pm Tuesday, the public health authority revealed.
Maldives has observed a total of 13,217 coronavirus recoveries, with 13 additional virus-stricken patients having recovered on Tuesday.
Out of the 658 active coronavirus infections, 41 patients are currently hospitalized for treatment. This is an increase of nine patients, in comparison to the number reported on Monday.
Healthcare officials have collected a total of 328,705 samples for coronavirus testing thus far, since the pandemic surfaced in the island nation on March 7.
Tuesday’s cases are the highest number of cases to have been reported in the capital region, in days.
On Monday, the state of public health emergency declared across the island nation was extended as well.
