Da Grande Sports Club beat TC Sports Club in the third match of the Dhivehi Premier League on Monday evening, while Club Valencia won against Club Green Streets later in the night.

Da Grande Sports VS TC Sports Club

While Da Grande came out strong from the start, they won a penalty at the 30th minute. However, Gasim Sammam’s penalty kick was blocked by TC’s goal keeper.

However, the club took the lead six minutes later with a goal by captain Yasfaadh Habeeb following a pass by Otabek Khaydarov. Da Grande widened the lead before the end of the first half, with a goal from midfielder Ibrahim Nooradeen.

Da Grande scored its third goal of the match with just seven minutes until the whistle, with a successful penalty kick by Khaydarov.

While TC’s game improved during the second half, it failed to find any scoring opportunities.

Speaking after the match, Da Grande’s coach Ismail Mahfooz said that he is “very happy” with the players performance and result, but noted room for improvement. Noting that the two foreign players joined the team recently, Mahfooz said that he believes that they will be able to show a better performance after more practice sessions with these players.

TC’s Mohamed Shaazlee said that the Da Grande’s foreign players took them by surprise.

Da Grande’s next match will be against Super United Sports (SUS) on Sunday, while TC Sports Club will take on Club Eagles the same day.

Club Valencia VS Club Green Streets

While the country’s most popular footballer Ali “Dhagandey” Ashfaq confirmed his move back to Club Valencia days ahead of the start of the season, he scored the winning goal against Club Green Streets at Monday night’s game.

The team had several chances to score at the start of the game, and Ashfaq managed to score the only goal of the night at the 26th minute; this was his first goal for Valencia in 15 years, the club he started his football career with.

Greet Streets' performance improved after this, but failed to equalize the game despite multiple opportunities.

Speaking after the match, Green Streets' coach Ali Nisthaaru Mohamed criticized the referees. While he also expressed disappointment in the results, Nisthaaru said that he was satisfied by the performance of the players.

Club Valencia’s Mohamed Athif said that he was happy with the players performance in the first half, but that it was poor after halftime. However, Athif expressed satisfaction in having won their first match of the season, and said that they will continue work to improve their game.

Valencia’s next match is against United Victory while Green Streets will play against last season’s champions, Maziya Sports and Recreation Club. Both matches will be held next Saturday.
