Chhetri has hinted plans to retire from the Indian national football team

Captain of Begaluru Football Club, Sunil Chhetri has said that the team is fully prepared for its game against Maziya Sports Club.

The two teams are to meet on Tuesday evening, in a crucial match of the AFC Cup group stage.

The Bengaluru team arrived in the Maldives on Sunday night, where Chhetri spoke exclusively to RaajjeMV regarding the team’s preparations for the match.

He said that the team ‘is fully prepared’ for the match against Maziya, and that their goal is 'to win three points' in order to take the lead spot in the group.

While there are seven players from the Indian national football team in Begaluru FC, including Chhetri, he said that all the national team players had joined the club practices two days prior to their arrival in Maldives.

Noting that he had watched the match against Maziya and Dhaka’s Abahani, Chhetri said Maziya “is a strong team”, adding that today's match “will not be an easy one”.

He further praised the football scene in the Maldives, saying any match against a Maldivian team “is full of pressure”.

Chhetri, who is also the captain of the national team, is one of the best footballers India has ever seen, after Bhaichung Bhutia. Chhetri has hinted plans to retire from the national team.

The Bengaluru versus Maziya game is scheduled for Tuesday evening, at the Galolhu National Stadium in the capital Malé City.

The match is an important one for both teams, as the winning team will take the top spot in Group E. They are currently tied, in respect to points in the table.

Begaluru Football Club is the champion team of I-League 2016, as well runner-up of AFC Cup 2016.

The last time the two teams clashed was in 2015, with Maziya losing both home and away matches 2-1.
