Jameela Hussain, the mother of Director General of Public Health Maimoon Aboobakuru, has passed away on Saturday morning at the age of 82.

Confirming her death, the Health Emergency Operations Centre (HEOC) announced that this “is not a Covid-19 death”.

RaajjeMV understands that Jameela had been undergoing treatment for various ailments.

Following her death, President Ibrahim Mohamed sent condolences to the family.

Jameela Hussain is also the mother of the Chief Technology Officer at the President's Office, Hamid Shafeeu, Maldives' Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA)'s Deputy Commissioner General, Asma Shafeeu, as well as former Fisheries Minister, Ahmed Shafeeu.
