Maldives has reported another death from the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
The Health Protection Agency (HPA) reported the death as the 39th death from the ongoing global coronavirus, on Friday evening.
According to the public health authority, deceased is an 88-year-old Maldivian man who was admitted at Hulhumalé Medical Facility for treatment.
The man is to have passed away at around 3:50pm on Friday.
Maldives last reported a death from the global infection on October 31, when a 60-year-old Maldivian, an employee at Kandima Maldives died from complications.
His death sparked public criticism followed by reports of negligence on the resort management’s end, which led to the Ministry of Health dispatching a team to inquire into the matter at the Dhaalu Atoll Hospital where the patient was admitted before he passed away, and the resort where he worked at.
Their findings were shared with the Director-General of Public Health who on Thursday night lodged the case the Maldives Police Service (MPS), seeking an investigation into the matter.
