Covid-19: Maldives reports 32 new cases, 67 recoveries

Maldives has reported 32 additional cases of the global Covid-19 pandemic.

The Health Protection Agency (HPA) revealed that the new cases include 27 Maldivians and five foreigners.

With this development, Maldives Covid-19 tally currently sits at 11,210.

21 of the cases were detected from the greater Malé region and 11 from residentials islands.

Sunday’s cases were from the 1,252 samples tested between 6pm Saturday and 6pm Sunday.

A day after the public health authority reported over 100 additional recoveries, the country confirmed 67 recoveries from the virus on Sunday.

This pushes the total number of coronavirus-stricken patients who have observed full recoveries, to 10,164.

Out of the 1,002 active cases of the virus Maldives currently has, 348 patients are seeking treatment at isolation facilities. The number was at 369 the previous day.

While 43 patients were hospitalized for treatment on Saturday, the number dropped to 39 by sundown on Sunday.

On Sunday morning, authorities reported the 37th death from Covid-19.

Over the course of the past few days Maldives has been reporting lower numbers in daily cases, however, the public health authorities continue to stress on the importance of strictly adhering to the safety and precautionary measures, as Maldives is far from controlling the virus, yet.
