Two new judges have been appointed to the High Court bench.
The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) appointed Fathimath Faruheeza native to Maradhoo island of Seenu atoll and Hassan Shafeeu native to Dhiffushi island in Kaafu atoll, on Sunday.
This was revealed via a statement issued by the commission, which reads that the new appointees took their oath of office which was administered by Supreme Court Justice Dr. Mohamed Ibrahim.
They were presented with their letters of appointment during a ceremony held at JSC premises.
Faruheeza has a Bachelor of Law (Honors) from the International Islamic University of Malaysia as well as a Masters of Comparative Law.
Having 10 years of experience as a lawyer both in public prosecution and in the private practice, Faruheeza most recently served as the Chief Magistrate of the Feydhoo Magistrate Court.
The new appointee also has experience as a lecturer in the field.

Shafeeu has a Masters of Comparative Law from the International Islamic University of Malaysia as well as a Bachelor of Law (LLB) from the Maldives College of Higher Education.
He has 14 years of experience in law and worked as a lawyer for the Family Court since 2013, his most recent occupation was as a judge at the Civil Court.
The new appointee also served as a lecturer in the field of law and worked in drafting laws as well.
