Civil Service Commission (CSC) has received a complaint of attempts to destroy evidence related to the allegations against suspended Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation, Abdulla Fayaz.
Fayaz was suspended last week, following numerous corruption allegations from ministry employees.
He is accused of using position to secure jobs at the ministry for five individuals who had worked with him previously, as well as fraud in issuing licenses.
The claims are being investigated by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) as well.
RaajjeMV understands that the complaint submitted to CSC states that Ahmed Haleem, Deputy Director at the Transport Ministry, is the one accused of destroying or altering the evidence.
As such, he is to have attempted to erase data related to the unlawful employment of an expatriate worker who had failed a required exam thrice, through employees at the ministry’s IT Department.
The complaint also notes that documents related to the fraud in licensing are no longer in the system, and that related files have gone missing as well.
Haleem refused to comment on the issue.
Fayaz was suspended for a 30–day period on Thursday, as the investigation against him proceeds.
