Maldives reports a record daily rise in Covid-19 cases

  • A total of 4,164 Covid-19 cases confirmed in the island nation
  • 1,489 active cases
  • An additional death was confirmed on Sunday night

Maldives has reported a record daily increase in Covid-19 cases.

A total of 215 new cases were reported on Sunday; 149 locals, 54 Bangladeshis, seven Indians, two Sri Lankan nationals, two Nepalese nationals as well as an Indonesian. This is from a total of 1,182 samples tested within 24 hours.

With this development, the country’s case count has risen to 4,164 and pushes Covid-19 active cases to 1,489.

214 of the cases were detected in the greater Male’ region, and one case from an island.

84 patients are being treated at hospitals.

Further, an additional death was reported on Sunday; an 89-year-old Maldivian woman who was admitted at the Hulhumale’ Medical Facility.
