A 71-year-old local woman succumbed to Covid-19 on Thursday.
The Health Protection Agency (HPA) said that the woman arrived at the Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) with “breathing difficulties” on Thursday morning, and that she passed away at around 1:38pm.
This is the 16th death related to Covid-19 in the island nation.
Maldives has confirmed a total of 3,567 Covid-19 cases thus far. While there have been 16 deaths, 2,554 patients have recovered from the virus. There are currently 983 active Covid-19 cases in the country.
