The government of South Korea has donated 150 Covid-19 testing kits to the Maldives in support of the country’s response towards the global pandemic.
Having received the donated kits, the government of Maldives expressed immense gratitude to the government of Republic of Korea, it’s President Moon Jae-in and Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-Wha for the assistance, described crucial by the government, for the Maldivian people in this “hour of need”.
Taking to Twitter following the donation, the island nation’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid expressed heartfelt appreciation for the gracious and timely contribution to assist the country battle the pandemic.
The government highlighted that the donation can be used to conduct up to 15,000 tests for Covid-19.
Further, the ministry highlighted that the contribution signifies South Korea’s “goodwill towards the people of the Maldives” especially during critical times of a global pandemic.
Maldives believes the donation will go a “long way” in adding to the efforts by the government to contain and control the spread of the virus in the country.
Highlighting that Maldives and the Republic of Korea enjoy close bilateral relations, the government expressed keenness to strengthen ties between both nations, in the years to come.
