A resident of Nolhivaram island of Haa Dhaal atoll has tested positive for the global Covid-19 pandemic.

The island council’s president, Ibrahim Rasheed revealed to RaajjeMV that the individual had arrived in the island on July 6.

He had remained in home-quarantine since arriving on the island, Rasheed confirmed.

According to the council president, the case was confirmed after the individual was tested through random sampling in the capital Malé City, before returning to the island.

Highlighting that there were three additional individuals quarantined in the same residence as the recent case, Rasheed noted that samples were collected from them on Thursday.

Thus far, the island nation has seen 2,517 positive cases, with 2,180 recoveries.
