Maldives reported an eleventh death to Covid-19, on Sunday.
The Health Protection Agency (HPA) said that a 77-year-old Maldivian woman passed away at 1:52am on Sunday, adding that she was being treated at the 11th floor of the Dharumavantha Hospital at the time of her death.
While this is the 11th death to Covid-19, two patients succumbed to the virus last week; a 43-year-old Filipino man and a 92-year-old Maldivian man. Another patient, a 39-year-old Indonesian man, also passed away last Thursday, however, his death has been ruled as “not Covid-19 related”. Authorities said that the primary cause of death was stage four cancer.
According to the Health Ministry’s Covid-19 Dashboard, the country’s mortality rate is 0.41 percent.
Maldives has confirmed 2,435 Covid-19 cases since March 7. While 2,030 patients have recovered as well, there are currently 390 active cases in the country.
