Maldives to resume domestic flight operations from Wednesday
Passengers will be required to take precautionary measures in checking and verifying documents
The airline has also issued guidelines to be followed
The announcement comes shortly after it was revealed that the country will move to a new phase in the fight against Covid-1, on July 1

National airline, Maldivian, is to resume scheduled domestic flights from Wednesday.

Announcing this, the airline said that passengers will be required to take precautionary measures in checking and verifying documents, such as travel and health permits issued by the Health Protection Agency (HPA) and island councils in connection with the Covid-19 pandemic.

The airline has also issued guidelines to be followed, for travel between the greater Malé region and inhabited islands.

Guidelines for passengers travelling from Malé region:

  • Required to home quarantine themselves in the island after travelling from Malé
  • Register in ‘Haalu Belun’ portal before travelling
  • Ensure request for home quarantine is approved by HPA
  • Check if request from home quarantine is approved through ‘Haalu Belun’ portal before travel
  • Required to update travel date through ‘Haalu Belun’ portal, in case of changes
  • Self-declare of identify themselves as passengers traveling from the greater Malé region for home quarantine during check-in

Passengers travelling to the greater Malé region are advised to obtain the required travel permits from the relevant authorities before travel.

While Maldivian is to resume domestic flights on July 1, it is to travel to 15 regions.

The national airline's announcement comes shortly after it was revealed that the country will move to a new phase in the fight against Covid-1, on July 1.
