Maldives’ Covid-19 active cases have surpassed 400 again.

While active cases have been below 400 since June 18, with the 22 new cases and 10 recoveries reported on Wednesday, the country’s Covid-19 case count is at 2,260 with 408 active cases.

The new cases announced on Wednesday include eight Maldivians and 14 foreigners; 13 Bangladeshis and one Indian national.

Following the 10 additional recoveries, total recoveries has reached 1,839. The country has seen eight Covid-19 related deaths.

There are currently 139 people in quarantine facilities, while 314 are at isolation facilities.

While Maldives’ first Covid-19 cases were detected from a resort on March 7, a community spread was confirmed over a month later on April 15 which led to a full lockdown in the greater Malé region. The country began lockdown easing on May 29, and entered phase two on June 15.
