Covid-19: Maldives confirms 14 new cases, recoveries reach 1,813

Maldives has reported 14 new Covid-19 cases, pushing the country’s total to 2,217.

The cases announced on Monday include eight locals as well as six foreigners; three Bangladeshis, two Indians and one Sri Lankan national.

While 10 additional recoveries have also been reported, the total recoveries has reached 1,813.

There are currently 391 active cases in the country. There have been eight Covid-19 related deaths, and two patients are currently on ventilators.

While Maldives’ first Covid-19 cases was detected from a resort on March 7, a community spread was confirmed over a month later on April 15. The country began lockdown easing on May 29, and is currently in phase two.
